The service

5 questions
Do you do temporary staffing?

No. We recruit permanent employees only. If you need labour to cover a few weeks, we are not the right firm — and we will tell you on the first call.

Which roles do you recruit?

Every role, every sector: Hudson AFL is a generalist agency. In construction and building — where we started — that runs from labourer to journeyperson across most trades, site administrative staff, foremen and project managers. Outside construction the same method applies: administration, finance, management and executive roles.

Do you work with small companies?

Yes. A single role to fill is enough to open a mandate, and the fee is the same whatever the size of your company or the sector.

Can I open several mandates at once?

Yes. Enter how many people you need on the form. Fees apply per completed hire, at the level matching each role.

I'm a candidate, not an employer. Can you help me?

Our mandates come from employers, but you can email us your application: we get in touch if a mandate matches your profile. A candidate never pays a fee.

Fees and the contract

7 questions
How is the level of the role determined?

By the skill the work requires: labourer, apprentice 1 through 4, journeyperson, or a management role. You know the job; we confirm the level together on the intake call, before signing. The level then fixes the fee for the whole mandate.

What does the 20% security deposit cover?

It is 20% of the fee for the selected level and it is applied against the total — it is not an added charge. It starts the search.

When is the balance invoiced?

On the hire. Nothing else is invoiced between signing and the hire.

Does the fee change if the candidate's salary is higher than expected?

No, for the flat-fee levels — from labourer to journeyperson the amount is the one on the schedule, whatever salary is negotiated. For management, director and executive roles the fee is 15% of annual base salary, so it follows the salary agreed.

What is included in the fee?

The intake call, searching for and approaching candidates, screening them, updates during the mandate, and follow-up after the hire. No add-ons for any of those steps.

Is there a fee if you don't find anyone?

The applicable terms are written into the contract before signing. Ask on the intake call: we answer plainly rather than leaving you to read between the lines.

What if the employee leaves shortly after being hired?

That is covered in the contract, and the terms are discussed and written down before you sign. There is nothing to interpret after the fact.

Process and timing

5 questions
What happens after I send the form?

We review the need and we call you. Sending a request commits you to nothing: the contract and the deposit only come after that call.

How long does a mandate take?

It depends on the level and the region. A labourer is not recruited on the same timeline as a journeyperson in a skilled trade or a project director. We give a realistic estimate on the intake call, then progress updates.

How many candidates will I receive?

As many as it takes to fill the role, but only profiles we have already screened. We don't forward stacks of résumés: each presentation comes with our notes on skills, availability and salary expectations.

Do I meet the candidates myself?

Yes. The hiring decision is yours. We filter upstream so that you only meet profiles that hold up.

How am I kept up to date?

Through progress updates during the search: who was approached, where it is stalling, what we hear in the market. You don't have to chase us.

04

Territory and coverage

3 questions
Do you work in Ontario?

Yes, in Quebec and in Ontario. What matters in your request is the city where the employee will work — not where your head office is.

Do you have to visit my job site?

Not necessarily. The intake call is done by phone and works just as well for a site in Laval as for one in Ottawa.

Is the service available in French?

Yes. We work in French and English, and this site exists in both languages.

Still have a question?

Ask it out loud, or start a request — the fee shows before you ever speak to us.
